Destructive testing
Destructive tests on steel are examinations that involve the deformation or fracture of the material under scrutiny, providing information about the mechanical properties of steel, including tensile strength, ductility, toughness, and hardness.
In the tensile test, an axial force is applied to the steel until it fractures, allowing for the measurement of tensile strength and elongation.
In the compression test, an axial force is applied to the steel in the opposite direction until it fractures, allowing for the measurement of compression strength.
In the bending test, a transverse force is applied to the steel to determine its resistance to bending and ductility.
At Acero Lab, we specialize in conducting tests, trials, and conformity assessments on special, flat, and long steels in accordance with the requirements established in ASTM and NTC standards for each testing method employed.
